Biography

From a Michigan farm…

Fun on the farm with my little sister, Nicole

I grew up in rural Michigan, about as far from the pageant world as you could imagine! My parents raised chickens, grew snap peas and sweet corn, and chopped firewood every night for our wood-burning stove.  My mom was a role model who taught me to pursue my dreams, no matter what challenges I faced. On top of being a wife, mother, and volunteer, my mom drove 60 miles to and from college classes each day to earn her degree. From the very beginning, she taught me to use my inner gifts to their fullest through all of life’s changes.

…to Mrs. St. Paul!

Audrey5My mom’s example taught me to shine in all of my roles: wife, business professional, athlete, performing artist, and passionate advocate for colon cancer prevention. After my stepfather was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer last fall, I have been dedicated to educating as many people as possible about colon cancer prevention. Today I am so honored to have the opportunity to reach audiences statewide as I represent St. Paul in the Mrs. Minnesota International program.

I live with my husband Chris in Northeast Minneapolis and work as lead trainer for a nonprofit in St. Paul. Chris and I recently ran the Twin Cities Marathon as Charity Runners for the American Cancer Society. In my spare time I enjoy taking dance and yoga classes, curling up with a great book, and taking advantage of the fantastic restaurants, shops, and events in the Twin Cities!

Hard at work!

Meet Chris, the love of my life who supports me day in and day out!  Chris is working toward his PhD in English at the University of Minnesota, so I often see him just the way he is in this picture–at his desk, surrounded by books! We met during our first year of college and have been together ever since. Chris has never missed a dance performance and even agreed to run with me in the 2009 Twin Cities Marathon—now that’s dedication!
