Cancer Summit 2009

Today I had the honor of representing St. Paul at the Cancer Summit 2009, hosted by the Minnesota Cancer Alliance and sponsored by the American Cancer Society. A highlight of the conference was a speech by Ruth Edstrom, a 10-year stage 4 colon cancer survivor. Her story was moving and inspiring, especially in light of my stepdad’s own stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis.

I also attended two sessions focused on increasing colon cancer screening rates and improving public awareness and education. I can’t wait to apply what I’ve learned to my upcoming colon cancer prevention activities!
